Commissioning Project Manager
To be successful in this role, you will need to perform the following tasks:
- Review specifications and design documentation to ensure the systems can be properly commissioned and maintained.
- Review project submittals for consistency with the design intent, basis of design and the owner’s project requirements.
- Develop the commissioning verification sheets and test procedures.
- Provide field verification through witnessing and testing to ensure project quality and adherence to design.
- Provide technical, communication and leadership skills necessary to effectively present findings and corrective actions to the client.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, often under aggressive deadlines.
- Ensure client/customer satisfaction for tasks are performed.
- Foster effective and positive business relationships with all parties throughout project phases.
- Develop and maintain relationships with contractors and field personnel to develop additional businesses for the group.
- Cultivate new client relationships and accounts.
Requirements:
- BS in Engineering (electrical preferred; mechanical or building system acceptable)
- Professional Engineering License; LEED AP Certification from US Green Building Certification Institute; CBCP from Association of Energy Engineers; QCxP from the University of Wisconsin; and Building Commissioning Association Certified Cx Professional preferred
- 10 years experience in any one of the following areas are ideal candidates for positions in the commissioning field: Electrical System/Mission Critical Facility Commissioning/; Electrical System/Mission Critical Facility Design; Construction Project Management; Control System Installation/Maintenance; familiarity with Arc Flash Hazzard Analysis Standards (NFPA 70e) and NETA testing protocols
- Experience with testing and commissioning of the following: transformer, generator and motor protection relays; differential protection, over current and Earth fault, over and under voltage relays. Electrical switchgear such as VCB, ACB, OCB and SF6 breakers and isolators. Also integrated system testing (electric and fire alarm)
- Travel 25-50% to other project sites throughout Tri State area
- Proficient in MS Office software, especially with Excel spreadsheets
- Strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills
Energy Engineers
To be successful in this role, you’ll be able to perform the following responsibilities:
- Conduct energy audits (ASHRAE Level 1 through investment grade) and energy master plans for clients in the commercial, industrial, lab, pharmaceutical, healthcare, higher education and municipal/county government sectors.
- Identify and develop energy and utility cost reduction projects (both operational and capital) relating to HVAC systems, central steam and chilled water plants, compressed air systems, pumping systems, electrical systems, Cogeneration plants, building controls / energy management systems, lighting, water consuming equipment and fixtures, building envelope, etc.
- Perform feasibility studies of renewable and energy conservation technologies, including (but not limited to) photovoltaic systems, wind turbines, micro-cogeneration systems (fuel cells and microturbines), conventional cogeneration systems (reciprocating engine and gas turbine), geothermal heat pump retrofits, biomass systems, thermal storage systems, air-to-air energy recovery systems, condensing flue gas heat exchangers and backpressure turbines.
- Perform carbon footprint studies and develop subsequent greenhouse gas reduction strategies.
- Perform calculations of annual energy/cost savings and greenhouse gas reductions for identified energy projects.
- Develop budget quality project cost estimates. Perform life cycle cost analysis.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations. Present findings of audits / studies to client.
- Assist the sales and project development teams in energy projects development after completion of the energy audit / feasibility study development.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or extensive equivalent experience
- 5+ years experience in energy services, energy conservation and/or experience in commercial and industrial energy plant operations
- PE, CEM, CEA and LEED certification is desirable
Desired qualifications:
- Energy auditing, sustainability / energy master planning and technical feasibility study experience, including development of project cost estimates, annual energy/cost savings calculations and life cycle cost analysis
- Experience with operation and/or design and/or construction of HVAC systems, boilers and steam systems, chilled water plants and pumping systems, compressed air systems, electrical systems, Cogeneration plants and building controls / energy management systems
- Knowledge of energy efficiency technologies (lighting systems, building envelope upgrades, energy recovery technologies pertaining to HVAC, chillers and steam / hot water systems, combined heat and power/CoGen applications and renewable energy technology such as photovoltaics, wind, etc.) suitable to understanding their practical application at client facilities
- Knowledge of utility tariffs and rate structures, understanding of energy procurement in deregulated markets, and experience with energy load profile analysis
- Knowledge of energy modeling software desirable (DOE2, Trane Trace, Carrier HAP, eQuest)
- Proficiency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint and have a working knowledge of MS Project, Visio and AutoCAD
- Ability to travel up to 20%
