Project Description: Construction of the Child Health Institute of New Jersey, a $72 million state-of-the-art biomedical research facility for diseases that affect children, is underway in New Brunswick, NJ.
The institute is part of the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ). It will House 146,800 sf of research laboratories, a pediatric clinical research center and academic offices and patient care facilities for the Department of Pediatrics. Fourteen new faculty members will direct teams of visiting scientists, postdoctoral fellows, graduate students and technicians for a full complement of about 130 employees.
As part of a $518 million statewide construction program to enhance biomedical research and education in New Jersey, the Institute will address chronic diseases affecting children by focusing on the ares of prevention, treatment and cure of environmental, genetic and cellular diseases.
To facilitate the fast track nature of the project, which was completed in June 2005, UMDNJ required that the building systems be commissioned according to ASHRAE 90.1-1996. Dome-Tech was selected to commission the building's HVAC, plumbing, electrical, security, fire alarm, laboratory, gas and support systems. |
