Building Equipment assessment, mount sinai medical center
Facility Management Consulting

Project Profile:
Project:   Building Equipment Assessment
Owner:   Mount Sinai Medical Center
Project Type:   Healthcare
Project Deliverables:   Equipment Assessment Database with Capital Budget Estimates
Completion Date:   March 2005

Challenge:
As one of the nation's premier healthcare facilities, Mount Sinai Medical Center is always changing.  To keep pace with the evolving needs of the hospital, the facilities staff must develop long range plans for growth and renovation.  TO provide a basis for places to replace or renovate various facilities at the medical center, the facilities staff needed to assess the current state of their building assets.

Day 2 Services parntered with AKF Engineers to conduct a visual inspection fo the mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems in the four million plus square feet of space.  Our team surveyed one half of the space utilizing data collection sheets to capture the equipment nameplate, its general condition, any specific deficiencies and an estimate of the remaining useful life left in the asset.

This data was compiled and entered into a database for easy retrieval and report generation.  The database was used to prepare summary reports based on the priority assigned to the equipment by the assessment team.  A written summary was prepared for each building, detailing a capital plan over the next twenty years.

The recommendations from the report were submitted to Morgan Construction who prepared construction estimates for each recommendation.  This information was incorporated into the final report, which will be used to justify capital planning and budget requests for the hospital's facilities department over the coming years.
