Press Release:  ETHICON Installs Next Generaion Solar Energy System, Expands Johnson & Johnson's Commitment to Reduce Emissions

Somerville, NJ (January 25, 2006) - ETHICON, a Johnson & Johnson company, has installed a 250-kilowatt solar energy system at its Somerville, NJ facility to generate clean energy and contribute to a healthier environment.

The solar installation demonstrates the company's commitment to Johnson & Johnson's Worldwide Environmental Policy, the global healthcare company's statement to protect the environment.

"Johnson & Johnson understands the critical interdependence between human health and the health of our planet.  With this new solar insatllation at ETHICON, we're using clean and renewable energy, and reducing the production of harmful greenhouse gases that come from standard energy production methods," said Dennnis Canavan, Worldwide Energy Manager for Johnson & Johnson.

The solar energy system will offset production of more than 4,700 tons of carbon dioxide over the life of the system.

The roof-mounted photovoltaic system was designed and installed by Dome-Tech Solar, the solar energy solutions provider for commercial and industrial business in New Jersey.  The installation incorporates 800 SCHOTT Solar panels, as well as SCHOTT Solar's patented roof-mounting technology.

"Mounting panels on hardware that maximizes solar energy production yet maintains the roof integrity was especially important for our mature building structure," said ETHICON Project Manager, Jose Santiago.

The installation was partially supported by a rebate from the New Jersey CLean Energy Program, which provides financial incentives, education and resources to New Jersey companies and residents to encourage the implementation of renewable power solutions.
